Support East Belfast Mission

How you can support East Belfast Mission

At East Belfast Mission we provide people with building blocks to transform their lives, and we need people like you to provide those building blocks!

There are lots of different ways you can do that: by joining in on one of our fundraising events, by committing to a regular monthly donation, by pledging a gift in your will and leaving a legacy, or by donating your valuable time and skills to support our work by volunteering!

However you choose to get involved or support us, you will be making a huge difference to the lives of people in east Belfast. So, thank you!

Fundraise with us

Keep it simple and hold a coffee & catch up or go all out and get your whole community involved! Why not get your church, workplace, school or club in on the act by holding a dress up day, big breakfast, quiz or sports competition. It’s all up to you! You can fundraise for EBM in general or if a particular project is close to your heart that’s great too. We will be here to help every step of the way and make it as successful as possible.

For more ideas, support and advice get in touch with fundraising@ebm.org.uk or contact us.

Volunteer with us

Volunteers are vital to EBM, and without them we’d be lost. There are so many opportunities with us to give back, like volunteering with Restore, helping Turas with tea and coffee, serving customers in our Cafe, Refresh, and so much more!

There are many benefits to volunteering, including:

  • Give something back to the East Belfast Community.
  • Gain new skills.
  • Make new friends.
  • Learn new things about yourself and others.
  • Boost your confidence.

Legacy Donations: Frequently Asked Questions

Leaving a gift in your will for East Belfast Mission is simple! All you must do is find a solicitor or legal advisor, create a will and choose to leave a gift for East Belfast Mission. Alternatively, you can find more information about leaving a gift in your will on the Will to Give website, where you can also select East Belfast Mission as your chosen charity: Home – Will To Give.

There are 3 main types of gifts which you can choose to leave in your will: Leave a share of an estate (a residuary gift); Leave a cash gift (a pecuniary gift); Leave specific items to a charity. Any gift, no matter the size, will make a huge difference towards our work.

If you have already made a Will and now wish to add East Belfast Mission as a beneficiary, you can ask your legal advisor to help you amend your will or to help you to complete a simple Codicil Form. A Codicil is a supplement that alters or adds to an existing Will which you must keep alongside your Will. You don’t need this form if you haven’t yet made your Will.

A gift in your Will to East Belfast Mission can be an effective way to reduce the amount of Inheritance Tax charged on your estate. If you leave 10% or more of the net value of your estate to East Belfast Mission, it will reduce the rate of Inheritance Tax from 40% to 36%. Please seek professional legal advice on this matter when making or amending your Will. Will to Give (link). We are proud Members of Will to Give, a charity which brings together over 60 of Northern Ireland’s favourite charities who are encouraging more people to be remembered for Kindness by leaving a charitable gift in their Will. They also provide a free online will writing service through Bequeathed.
