Aspire

About Aspire

The Aspire Kids & Youth Project is for those in Primary 4 to Year 12.  Aspire offers a place for children and young people to feel safe, listened to, supported and encouraged.  Aspire aims to increase children and young people’s confidence, social communication and well-being.  This is through providing homework support, personal development, well-being and creative arts programmes.

The project is for children and young people who live around East Belfast Mission (BT4, BT5 or BT6), including those who may need extra support due to anxiety, low-confidence, English as a second language, ADHD or ASD.

Alannah's Aspire Story

“Aspire started as a small homework club for P4 - P6, then P7s. I’ve been involved for 4 years now so I’ve been part of the growth here which is really nice. And I'm seeing brothers and sisters coming through as well.

We continue to develop and support older children by helping them with their GCSEs, or to write CVs for jobs. We are a family. They come in and tell us about their day and chat through it.

It's so rewarding to provide a safe, secure place for children. They find a space if they need to be by themselves or play games with each other and have a laugh.

To be able to plan an activity or trip, and see their confidence grow is a really nice feeling.”
