East Belfast Mission - Changing Lives
Each week East Belfast Mission helps over 1,000 people from its base at Skainos Square on the Newtownards Road. Since the move to this facility in 2012 we have helped more than 10,000 vulnerable people from the inner East Belfast area to transform their lives - people just like Dennis.
Dennis became homeless following a relationship breakdown, which lead to him spending the next 5 years sofa surfing. East Belfast Mission's hostel provided Dennis with a safe place and support to rebuild his life.
“East Belfast Mission took me out of the gutter and gave me a new lease of life.”
With support from his key workers, Dennis has now been able to find a home of his own and is now giving back to his community by working with Hosford's Going Green project in organising community events and helping to maintain the beautiful community garden at East Belfast Mission. Andrew Irvine, CEO of East Belfast Mission, says:
“We hope that Dennis' story will inspire others who, faced with challenges, that seem insurmountable, with our help can also turn their life around and find a future filled with hope."
East Belfast Mission has been supporting vulnerable people from communities across inner East Belfast for over 200 years, bringing help and hope to people who are homeless, unemployed or struggling with their mental health. Click the buttons below to find out how East Belfast Mission can assist you
