A recent health trust survey found that there are higher levels of clinical depression among Belfast samples of older people when compared to other cities including Sheffield and Southampton. The study also found that older people in Belfast struggle with additional factors such as loss of community and significant paramilitary activity. These environmental circumstances are not conducive to positive health and well being and many essentially perceive themselves to be of little value. it is our aim to bring a sense of community and importance to older people and hope for the future – showing them that they matter.
