Tenancy Support Service

Hosford House's Tenancy Support Service provides practical and emotional support to people who are living independently but encountering problems, and to people who are homeless. We aim to enable people to live independently through developing their skills and their ability to deal with problems.

The support available includes:

  • Housing advice and assistance
  • Benefits advice and assistance
  • Advice about debt and budgeting
  • Assistance with integrating into the community
  • Guidance in dealing with disputes with neighbours or others
  • Accessing counselling and health services
  • Advice and assistance in regards to education, training and employment
  • Guidance with practical issues in the home

Tenancy Support Workers are available to meet with clients in their own homes or other locations in the community. Appointments may be arranged on a daily, weekly or monthly basis for up to nine months depending on the needs of the client. Telephone support is also available.

Who can access the Tenancy Support Service?

This service is available to people who are over 18 years of age who:

  • Need support to live independently or find suitable accomodation
  • Are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

After receiving a referral staff will assess it and let you know of the outcome verbally or in writing, if requested.

  • If accepted you will be contacted and arrangements made for you to be interviewed by a Tenancy Support Worker.
  • If not accepted you will be directed to other services that may be more appropriate. There is also an appeals process for unsuccessful applications.
