Policy Statement
Hosford House is a resettlement hostel and as such offers temporary, not permanent, housing solutions to its clients. Our aim is to appropriately resettle our clients within 12 months; however we are aware that in the case of clients with complex needs, this process may take as long as 24 months. Hosford House accommodates only those clients who are prepared to work towards a successful resettlement solution. Preparation for resettlement will be done in a manner that is both supportive and sensitive to the needs of the client.
Referrals
Referrals can be made by prospective clients, advocates of prospective clients or agencies acting on behalf of prospective clients if they have all the information required.
Hosford House can take referrals between 9am and 9pm.
Prospective clients will be asked to attend a referral interview. However, if a prospective client is unable to attend a referral interview, it may be possible to send them an application for accommodation or to arrange a visit.
For statistical purposes, all information regarding referrals is retained and stored.
All referral decisions can be challenged through the Complaints Procedure.
We would like to be able to help all who are in need of housing, however some exclusions do apply:
Hosford House cannot accept referrals from ex clientswho are still subject to the barring policy (a copy of this policy is available on request)
Hosford House cannot accept referrals from prospective clients who have been convicted of arson (this is a term of our insurance)
Hosford House cannot accept referrals from prospective clients who have been convicted of Schedule 1 offences
Hosford House reserves the right to refuse to accept a referral from a prospective client who has been deemed to be a threat to staff, clients or clients of a particular vulnerability (this will always be evidenced with verifiable information from other organisations).
Hosford House cannot accept referrals from prospective clients who are unable to self-medicate (the medication policy is available).
Hosford House, as a dry hostel, cannot accept referrals from prospective clients who may be under the influence of alcohol or non-prescribed drugs.
