The new hostel is estimated to cost £500,000. By September, building work is completed and the hostel is named as a tribute to the work of W.J. Hosford, who officially opens it on Friday 27th Nov 1991 at 12.45pm.
Hosford House is opened as an Alcohol Rehabilitation Centre with 17 beds and Mr Alan Tate, a qualified social worker is appointed as the projects Director.
In 1994, due to a lack of referrals and funding as a result of a change in direction of government policy, Hosford House closes as an alcohol rehabilitation centre.
Hosford is opened again in April to offer accommodation to single people experiencing homelessness.
