Building the New Church

Eleven years after the church was destroyed in the blitz, it is rebuilt and opened on saturday 6th september 1952 at 3pm

Rev. Ernest Shaw arranged for the congregation to join the Pitt Street Mission. For the next eleven years they would worship together.

Then, during the ministry of Rev. R. J. Good, on 1st July, 1950, the foundation stones of the new church were laid. On 6th September, 1952, during the ministry of Rev. Thomas Kennedy, the new church that rose from the ashes of the old one was formerly opened by Mrs. R. B. Alexander, wife of the Circuit Steward. The Rev. John Montgomery, President of the Methodist Church in Ireland, gave the address.

The graveyard, wrecked by the havoc of war was closed. It was surfaced with tarmac to provide car parking.
