Upcoming events:

  • Passover Reflections: Join us either Wednesday evening for small groups or Thursday evening at Connswater Community Centre for Passover Reflections.
  • Seder Meal:  The Seder meal is the same Passover meal that Jesus shared with his disciples.  Today we call that meal the Last Supper, which is commemorated on Maunday Thursday, the Thursday before Easter. like in the Jewish tradition, let us allow this to be a remember of how God has acted in history for our sake.  Join us on Thursday, April 5th as we take part in our own Seder meal in Re:Fresh Cafe at 7pm.
  • Good Friday Service: We will be holding a Good Friday Service on Friday, April 6th in Connswater Community Centre at 7:30pm.
  • Church+: Getting together for meaningful conversation can be hard. The week passes quickly and often we feel we have no focus. To help us connect, we’re going to offer an earlier start on the first Sunday of each month to coincide with communion. We’ll begin with a light breakfast at 9.30am in Connswater Community Centre and then from 9.45 to 10.30 offer several options for reflection, conversation and prayer. It’ll be for all the family so kids are included too! The regular service will still be at 11am so don’t worry if you can’t make it for 9.30.

Believing

What we believe informs how we live. EBM has grown from a tradition of Methodism where we believe that it is important to engage with our world to show love and mercy. We do this because we believe that we all need help as we live and grow in this world. None of us can do it by ourselves and we do not stand in judgement of each other – we simply want to help to try to rebuild broken lives.Central in this belief is that God exists and that through the life of Jesus, came to show us that grace and peace available for everyone. We believe the scripture tells us, “God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” If God isn’t into condemnation, neither are we. Perhaps your life is messed up and broken and you feel you wouldn’t fit into ‘nice Christian life’ – then perhaps you might find a spiritual home with us.

Living

We are a mixed bunch of people of ages and backgrounds at EBM. We meet together every group Sunday but the other days of the week, we have very diverse lives. We believe however that what we do every day of the week matters to God. How we do our jobs, how we look after our children, how we take care of our friends and family – God is part of all these aspects of our life and wants to bring peace and restoration to our everyday life. Sunday only Christianity helps nobody and so at EBM we are trying to help each other live our faith everyday so that we can really experience the sort of life that Jesus promises us.If you want to connect with some people like yourself who are trying to understand how best to live, check out the ‘connecting’ section for ways to get involved or join us on a Sunday as we meet to celebrate and learn.

Serving

shaneThe world tells us that as long as all our needs are met, we’ll be ok. As we drown in possessions and realize that we have become addicted to consuming we know that this is not true. The reality is the more we have, the less secure we feel and the less free we actually are. Jesus tells us the only way to experience real life is to serve each other and to care for each other. So if we join Jesus in this vision for life we all become ‘everyday missionaries’. A group of people dedicated to changing the world in ordinary ways. At EBM, we realize that serving is different for everybody as we all have different gifts and abilities. But since we are working towards the same goal of transforming the world around us whether that is in Belfast or Bangladesh, Ballymacarret or Belieze we all work together. Serving together is under the one banner of ‘Mission One‘. Click here to find out more about this part of EBM life.
